Capital of the State of Sabah, Malaysia the city of Kota Kinabalu is situated in the Northwest of Borneo Island under the influence of the South China Sea. With about half a million inhabitants this city because it is the capital plays an important role in the political and economic well-being of the population of the entire state.

It is the state government’s home, where almost all of its ministries and agencies are located. Most agencies and departments of the Malaysian federal government are also located in Kota Kinabalu.

Kota Kinabalu is the main industrial and commercial center of Sabah. The economy is dominated by the primary industry sector. Although historically, the secondary sector has dominated this economy, rapid urbanization and economic development, there is a change throughout the market.

There is a movement towards the tertiary sector, in particular the tourism sector.

Kota Kinabalu has a vast tropical forest and the climate is highly influenced by the tropics, so you feel constant high temperatures and high humidity, also due to constant rains. The territory is under the influence of two monsoons that constitute the climate of this part of Sabah: The Monção Nordeste and the Southwest Monção. The Northeast Monsoon occurs between November and March, while the Southwest Monsoon takes place between May and September.
